Recently, Google has announced
project zero. This will be an in house crew of security researchers that will
be able to find the flaws in all the software that are not related to Google.
This will allow Google to access more directly the flaws and the issues that
are affecting its software products and users as well.
The crew members include George
Hotz. He was able to jail break an iPhone in 2007 for the first time ever and
at that time his age was 17. Recently, he figured out a Chrome OS exploit for
which Google rewarded him with a good job and $150,000.
Google says that the purpose of
this project is to lessen the number of people who gets affected by the attacks
of such malicious software. They added that they are giving their 100% on this
project and they are hiring highly professionals in this task that will help
them do this completely and efficiently.
They further say that this project
zero adds further internet security for all the internet users. Portnoy, the
Zero day initiative said that Google wasn’t the only company to create such a
team to find flaws in others software rather than its own.
According to their strategy, the
team will first look for the flaws and then make a public report of it. These
flaws should directly affect the developers of software. When they will report
such a flaw to Google, the company will reward them with something priceless as
they did it to George Hotz.
